The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cost Controller to join our Finance Team and ensure accurate and timely reporting of the financial performance of long term projects and services.
 
You will implement Cost Management best practice and apply this consistently across all projects, identifying cost variances, risk areas and mitigations to Project Managers, to assist the delivery of project & customer requirements in a cost effective manner. 
 
The role will be based in Inchinnan and we offer hybrid working.
 

Principle Accountabilities

  • Preparation of detailed project cost baseline, project revenue budget and regular EAC reforecasts in collaboration with the Project Team. Present the information to stakeholders as required.
  • Perform Value of Work Done (VOWD) assessments through project life, compare to planned progress, identify and mitigate slippage and escalate issues to management.
  • Conduct cost variance analysis and sensitivity analysis, and identify opportunities, risks and mitigations where available.
  • Ensure costs are correctly allocated to cost accounts/work orders, review correct coding of requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, variations, reconciling costs and investigating variances.
  • Facilitate and participate in lessons learnt sessions on project delivery and feedback to the responsible functions to ensure these are captured and acted upon to improve future project delivery.
  • Assist project planning in defining and maintaining detailed Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Other relevant duties/task as assigned by Financial Controller.
Qualifications and Experience
 
  • Proven track record in a similar role and industry.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience of ERP systems (e.g. Glovia, SAP, Oracle etc.).
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is key.
  • ICAS/ACCA/CIMA Qualification will be beneficial.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Engineering will be beneficial.
