The Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join the JFD supporting a high value, strategically important international defence projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the support service to the client and be accountable to JFD management for P&L delivery and performance of the project.
You will be required to lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, Supply Chain and Quality to deliver the project and service on time, on budget and to the complete satisfaction of the customer and internal stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare proposal for the service work in support of Bid team, where necessary while delivering mission success for our customer, achieving or exceeding contract performance obligations, on time and on budget whilst identifying, mitigating, and reporting project risks and opportunities to internal management.
- Accurately communicate project status and performance (weekly & monthly reporting as required) to internal and external stakeholders, in accordance with the approved reporting processes. This will include working and reporting contractual KPI’s.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the customer and be comfortable dealing with Senior Military and/or Defence personnel, whilst being the delegate for JFD’s Defence Business or Head of PMO in their absence
- Work with HSEQ Department to ensure compliance with all Safety, Quality, Environmental and Security policies, processes and procedures are achieved throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements throughout the lifecycle of the project, whilst developing detailed project plans to guide the customer and internal stakeholders on the project’s progress, status, and variances from the plan.
- Develop detailed project plans to guide the customer and internal stakeholders on the projects progress, status and variances from the plan while managing and coordinate effective communication between key stakeholders for the purpose of resolving project constraints or conflicts such as technical, commercial, resource, schedule, or procurement issues.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with JFD’s Global Project Execution Process (GPEP) and associated procedures and that the governance is maintained throughout the project.
- Work effectively with relevant stakeholders for efficient project implementation and execution, whilst supporting the management of change control and contract variations. Including obtaining the client service completion report, invoice and payment tracking.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
You will need to demonstrate experience within a Project Management role, ideally on previous Defence Procurement projects with a relevant qualification in Project Management.
You will have a proven track record of positively managing customer relationships on complex projects, ideally within the Defence environment along with business and commercial acumen.
An experienced negotiator, you will need to be capable of agreeing long term strategic commercial benefit for the company.
Previous experience of commercially sensitive projects and the security aspects this entail and also experience of delivering in service / contractor logistic support services within a naval maritime environment would be advantageous.
An awareness of working to maritime, defence standards and international quality & safety standards would be favourable.
You will need to be flexible and available to travel worldwide in support of project activities.
For this role you will need to have the right to reside and work in the UK and be able to gain SC level clearance.
In addition, you will need to hold a full clean driving licence.
