The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity within the Submarine Escape and Rescue product line for an ILS Supportability Engineer to join the team.

The successful candidate will provide effective engineering support to the wider engineering team including design/development, through life engineering support, adherence to regulations, standards and processes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage Obsolescence activities for the system, including; system wide Obsolescence Reviews, production of Obsolescence Technical Notes, production of Technical Change Proposals, development and upkeep of project Obsolescence Risk Registers.
  • Develop and manage the systems Data Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (DRACAS).
  • Determine system criticality and provide failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMECA) to identify, prioritise and eliminate areas of poor reliability and potential failures.
  • Chair contractual review meetings with the customer and produce regular reports on project obsolescence, DRACAS and ILS statistics. Support wider technical, operational, and engineering reviews across the project to provide ILS insight.
  • Responsible for facilitating the In-Service Review (ISR) and development / upkeep of salient ILS documentation, including Supportability Case Reports, In-Service Reliability and Maintainability Case Reports, Obsolescence and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Management Plans.
  • Undertake regular system reliability and maintainability assessments in accordance with relevant standards and customer requirements. Feedback system analysis results to counter reliability and maintainability constraints in future designs.
  • Deliver Through-Life Support (TLS) for the project, driving optimisation and availability of the assets. Assisting with Technical Queries (TQ) to provide engineering solutions and working closely with equipment suppliers to ensure support is readily available to fulfil system capability dependencies.
  • Close liaison with Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, Production and Sales to instill the best practices and ensure successful delivery of ILS activities to the customers’ satisfaction.
 Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant industry experience. 
  • Post-graduate or professional qualification, e.g., chartered engineer status, desirable.
  • Previous ILS experience.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
  • Previous experience working on submersibles would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience of mobilising / de-mobilising of equipment would be advantageous.
  • Familiar with international Quality and Safety standards (ISO 9001, 45001 etc.)
  • Understanding of ILS standards, e.g. Def Stan 00-600.
  • Ability to apply regulatory body rules (Class Standards, LR, DNV, National Standards, IMCA), ship specifications, and other technical guidance to develop conforming designs and modifications to ships and submersible vehicles.
  • Previous dive system or submarine escape experience would be highly advantageous.
  • You will need a full clean driving licence along with the right to reside and work in the UK. Ideally you will already hold full security clearance. Ability to obtain SC level clearance essential.
