The Role
We have a brand new opportunity for an Operations Manager (Cables) to join the JFR’s Cable Fault & Repair team and assist with the development of our delivery model as we scale up the service globally, working closely with the Product Manager. The team combines Termination & Testing, Cable Fault Services, Cable Asset Management, Owners Engineering, Consultancy and is bringing a unique monitoring approach to market focussing on full system integrity and security, providing a holistic cable management package.

The role is critical to providing market leading service when supporting customers suffering from cable outages, ensuring we have the right people, equipment and tools to support their teams.
 

Role Accountabilities

  • You will manage and maintain business functions operations based on 24/7 response service, entrusting the team to respond to events in line with agreed performance standards.
  • Develop and maintain proactive and positive relationships with all key stakeholders within JFR and across the wider JF.
  • Effectively lead, direct, support and encourage the Operations team’s contribution to departmental and organisational objectives & key KPI’s.
  • Work with Sales & Tendering to better define product offerings and develop delivery models that are aligned to the bid process, customer’s needs and market trends.
  • Line management of technical & operational staff supporting their development.
  • Supporting clients in their moment of need, in a high pressure environment, with ambiguity and tough decision making part of the every day.
  • Promote H&S at every opportunity supporting the HSE reporting systems, HSE team & Leadership team to ensure the culture of the business is based on ZERO Harm safety and learning through lessons learned and feedback.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of developing and managing operational teams in a transmission, Construction or O&M Renewables environment. Experience within other complex hazardous operational environments such as electricity generation plant, chemical plants, Merchant or Royal Navy etc will also be considered.
  • Experience and knowledge on cable systems in subsea environments.
  • Team Leadership experience.
  • A degree or HND qualified engineer in a suitable engineering discipline and with, or working towards, professional accredited status.
  • Technical knowledge of Offshore Wind System lifecycle and various stages of design, installation, monitoring and maintenance.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, contracts, and project finances.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience working across international markets and diverse cultural environments.
  • Experience of fault finding and repair of power cables / fiber optics, can demonstrate working within highly regulated, procedure driven controlled environments (desirable).
  • Experience working with Power Cable OEM’s or Subsea Engineering businesses (desirable)
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualified (desirable)
