The Role and requirements,
As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering innovative engineering solutions within the product line, covering the entire engineering lifecycle—from design development to end-of-life management. Utilizing company processes and tools, you will ensure excellence in every stage of development.
This role requires expert knowledge of UK Defense Standards, along with hands-on experience in both commercial and military diving systems. A strong background in naval system design and operation will be essential for this position.
This role will be based at our office in Inchinnan on a hybrid basis. For this role candidates must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
Principle Accountabilities
- Lead an engineering project, delivering to the strategy, governance framework, systems, processes, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering design input across the engineering lifecycle on the associated product line and being accountable for the technical approvals conducted within their team. Responsible for the maintenance of technical files and product designs to ensure compliance with the latest standards, rules, and regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement and in service design enhancements.
- Responsible for delivering the agreed engineering scope and deliverables in accordance with JFD engineering processes within budget and schedule. This will include maintaining engineering reports such as scheduling, resource and capacity planning, performance reporting and corrective action status.
- Liaise with internal JFD departments such as PMO, supply chain, production, HSEQS, Bids to ensure the appropriate technical solution/specifications are provided and reviewed.
- Assist Engineering Team Lead on management of team on performance, development/mentoring, resourcing accordingly to meet business needs.
- Close liaison with counterpart Engineering Leaders (managers, Technical Authorities, and Principal Engineers etc.) to instil best practice across engineering and to support resource sharing where necessary and drive continuous improvements.
- Manage and support system safety reviews and the safe design, validation and certification of our products, technical risk registers and create mitigation plans and ensuring team complies with company safety policy’s.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant industry experience.
- Post-graduate or professional qualification, e.g., chartered engineer status, desirable.
- Proven experience with Product/Project Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
- Have worked on creating project plans for work packages using Microsoft Project Plan or similar tools
- Experience in product design and/or design integration of engineering systems.
- Sound knowledge of general engineering principles.
- Experienced in leading and working in teams of varied disciplines.
- Familiar with international Quality and Safety standards (ISO 9001, 45001 etc.)
