HSSE Advisor

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated HSSE Advisor to support our Maritime Transport Division. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with company HSSEQ policies and procedures, while actively promoting a culture of safety, ownership, and engagement across all levels of the division. You will work closely with departments and product lines to foster a safe and healthy working environment, using your skills in motivation, coaching, and mentoring to drive continuous improvement and local accountability in HSSEQ management.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in HSSEQ, with demonstrable experience in developing and maintaining robust systems, procedures, and processes that meet national compliance standards. You will be confident in communicating best practices across diverse teams, both nationally and internationally, and will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

We’re looking for someone who is energetic, dynamic, and enthusiastic, with a proactive mindset and the ability to think laterally. You’ll be expected to challenge conventional approaches in the pursuit of HSSEQ excellence and respond effectively to queries from both management and customers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide HSSEQ advice, guidance and support to projects, departments, worksites, and contracted personnel, ensuring compliance with internal processes, legislative, industry best practice and client specific requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of HSSEQ Business Management System including procedures, sub-ordinate documents, and safety notices / communications.
  • Conduct safety inspections and investigation of incidents onboard vessels, at bases or yards as directed by line management.
  • Ensure all reported incidents / accidents are investigated, including root cause analysis, and present corrective actions to prevent recurrence; action follow up for satisfactory close out.
  • Monitor and report on regional HSSEQ performance, identifying trends and develop proactive or reactive safety initiatives / campaigns where required.
  • Create and deliver bespoke HSSEQ training to all employees.
  • Focal point for the collation and submission of Green House Gas Emissions data including follow-up rebuttals / analysis for allocated product lines.
  • Assist with QA functions, including to carry out / review audits / assessments / inspections (internal and external).
  • To host customer audits and inspections of our processes, demonstrating compliance with ISO standards and the SPSA guidelines.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance advisory / management experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of HSE management in an operational marine or offshore environment, familiar with STS and marine practices an advantage.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Internal Auditing Experience.
  • Knowledge of international HSE legislation an advantage.
