About the Role

As James Fisher Defence continues to grow, we are expanding our Project / Senior Project Management team to support a dynamic portfolio of existing and new contracts. We are now seeking to create a pipeline of talented and driven Project / Senior Project Managers to hopefully play a pivotal role in this exciting phase of development.

In this role, you will be embedded within the Defence Tactical Delivery Vehicle Product Line, part of JFD’s Defence Division. You’ll be a key contributor, accountable for the successful delivery of strategically significant, high-value international projects.

Please not this is not an active role but a talent pool for future opportunities.

Role Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a strategically significant international project within JFD’s global Defence portfolio, making a real impact from day one.
  • Drive successful project delivery — on time, on budget, and fully aligned with customer expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Provide clear, insightful project reporting to both internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout.
  • Champion health, safety, environmental sustainability, and security standards across every phase of the project lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans that keep stakeholders informed and engaged, highlighting progress and proactively managing deviations.
  • Identify and manage project risks with confidence — from early detection to mitigation and escalation where needed.
  • Ensure full compliance with JFD’s Global Project Execution Process (GPEP), maintaining governance and best practices throughout.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally by assigning and coordinating tasks across vendors, engineering, production, and support teams to keep momentum strong.

Knowledge, Experience, Skills Required

  • The successful candidate will be deemed eligible for Swedish security clearance.
  • Degree in Engineering (preferably naval) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience in project management, ideally within Defence Maritime and engineering-focused environments.
  • Recognised Project Management qualification.
  • Track record of delivering international projects, preferably in the Defence sector.
  • Strong understanding of UK and international Defence contracting terms.
  • Skilled in managing complex customer relationships and navigating commercially sensitive projects.
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills and strategic thinking.
  • Familiarity with in-service support and contractor logistics in naval settings is advantageous.
  • Awareness of maritime, defence, and international quality and safety standards is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel globally as required.
