Home Based with travel

Job Purpose

As the Head of Engineering & Asset Management and part of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality projects and operations. Your expertise will be crucial in executing safe and effective engineering and technical processes, from design development to end-of-life stages, both at JFR and our customer sites.

A key aspect of your role will be to develop and implement cutting-edge Asset Management Strategies for Transmission Systems, optimizing performance and extending these principles across our entire portfolio. You will be a champion of engineering excellence, fostering a culture of innovation and high standards within our personnel and supply chain. Additionally, you will play a vital role in expanding JFR's engineering consultancy capacity.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manages, develops a resource pool of engineers (HV, blade, cable) to achieve engineering excellence.
  • Integrate talent from JFR Academy into org. and replace relevant contractor roles with relevant FTEs.
  • Responsible for supporting allocation and utilisation of engineering resources.
  • Provides engineering consultancy services through service lines.
  • Develops and implements in alignment with Product Development (PD) engineering solutions to improve competitiveness & sustainability (e.g. gross margin improvement, price increase, IP).
  • Develop technology partnerships in alignment with PD and Procurement Manager.
  • Define and manage JFR’s engineering management systems, governance, standards and processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and robust decision making on complex and varied engineering risks and solutions.
  • Lead the engineering team, achieving high levels of engagement, promoting a resilient, diverse, high performing team.
  • Lead and oversee excellence in asset management for wind farm system assets, with a particular focus on the transmission systems.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required

  • Degree qualified or professional registration (IEng/CEng) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with focus on power systems/transmission
  • Post-graduate or professional qualification, e.g. chartered engineer status, desirable.
  • Extensive experience in High Voltage Transmission System Operations, with demonstrated expertise in system planning, operations, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role for engineering in an international business.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Offshore / Energy sectors
  • Experience setting and delivering medium and long term strategy, budget and resource plans.
  • Demonstrated management experience.
