The Role:
Will be responsible for the control and implementation of all Logistics activities for James Fisher Offshore/JF Decom, including supporting Procurement with sourcing parts and services.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and control all Logistical requirements for James Fisher Offshore/JF Decom.
  • Ensure company compliance with all customs and excise requirements.
  • Responsible for engaging with Customs & Excise as required and being the "face" of the company for all audit and Customs & Excise interactions.
  • Develop and implement best practice processes and procedures for dealing with all aspects of logistics.
  • Arrange and manage transport and logistics (couriers and haulage) in the most efficient and effective manner to support business operations.
  • Ensure all company delivery notes, manifests, commercial invoices and dangerous goods paperwork are raised correctly.
  • Process internal and external material requisitions in a timely manner, whilst maintaining an understanding of priorities.
  • Ensure that purchase orders are raised correctly and in line with company procedures.
  • Strive to ensure that all parts are delivered on time, to budget and to the appropriate revision and quality.
  • Make sure goods and services are supplied with supporting paperwork and this is passed over to the relevant department(s) as required.
  • Negotiate best possible prices with suppliers.
  • Obtain quotes to support bids and tenders for new work and projects.
  • Organise project specific equipment to support company operations and projects.
  • Review and oversee purchase orders in company ERP system.
  • Manage and schedule company demands, while maintaining an understanding of customer requirements, priorities and availability of parts and services.
  • Build and manage relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Identify new suppliers that best serve the needs of the business.
  • Communicate any logistical issues to Management and internal customers.
  • Assist the Accounts Department in making sure that invoices can be correctly matched and processed, helping to resolve any PO queries as they arise.
  • Keep project files and job spreadsheets up to date and accurate.
  • Ensure that companywide policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, ensuring that all relevant Health and Safety requirements are met.

Work in a professional manner at all times, regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department, James Fisher Offshore/JF Decom and the James Fisher Group.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in all logistical management activities, procurement, with a strong appreciation of the wider business perspective.
  • Ideally with knowledge and understanding of how to use the online Customs Declaration Service (CDS) portal.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of different transport methods.
  • Able to work well with others, while being self-motivated and able to work under own initiative.
  • Knowledge of using Sage.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
  • Preferred but not essential would be the qualification in Dangerous Goods by Air, Road and SEA.

Confident, positive, and enthusiastic ideally with experience of working in a similar role.
Experience of working in a position that has involved purchasing, logistics, scheduling and planning.
Excellent time management and organisational skills with a strong attention to detail.
Willingness to undertake courses to keep up to date with guidelines and industry best practice.
Good Analytical thinking skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
