The Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Contract Officer to join the JFD team. 
 
This is a maternity cover role that will see the successful candidate join a fantastic small team. 
 
The commercial team within JFD supports and manages the commercial and contractual functions for
 
JFD customer held contractual relationships, UK and Globally.  
 
The successful candidate will support from the bid process, in conjunction with the Bids team, and progresses onto the contractual and relationship management (support to products and services), to the end of all contractual commitments.  
 
The main purpose of the role is to provide commercial and contractual support, drive consistency and control, manage commercial risk and ensure best practice and robust governance.
 
The role will be based in Inchinnan, and we offer hybrid working. 
 
Key Accountabilities
  • Facilitates the optimisation of product line performance by enhancing the alignment between business processes and information technology.
  • Providing commercial support to the Bids team.
  • After contract award, undertaking commercial and contractual execution.
  • Providing management of the contract and commercial support to the project team.
  • Providing support in relation to commercial risks.
  • Supporting any commercial financial commitments and reporting.
  • Providing advice and support in relation to major 3rd party contracts.
  • Supporting specific commercial activities, i.e., warranty, bonds, offset, etc.
  • Supporting with claims and liquidated damages.
  • Ensuring contract close out. 
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Commercial, contractual, legal, or similar experience/knowledge essential.
  • Ability to understand complex contracts and deliverables essential.
  • Awareness and/or experience of commercial risk identification, mitigation and close out.
  • Experience of working within business governance arrangements/ procedures/ processes.
  • Experience with relationship management, internally and externally.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to deal with colleagues (at all levels), suppliers and customers.
  • Skills in negotiating and influencing.
  • Able to work on own initiative, away from office, and be self-motivated and able to deal with a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience of working in products and services environments preferred.
  • Experience of working across multiple contracts of variable values, risk, and scope preferred.
  • Experience within the sectors of marine, subsea, defence/government, oil/gas, and manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of procurement and supply chain, commercial finance, and UK Law preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of offset guidelines preferred.
  • Experience within global markets preferred.
