The Role:
We are looking for an Engineer to deliver innovative design solutions and provide through‑life engineering support across the JFD Sweden product range. The role offers variety, from R&D and new product development to meeting client specifications and supporting in‑field upgrades or modifications to existing equipment. You will use your SolidWorks expertise to produce high‑quality designs and documentation, working both collaboratively and independently as projects require.
Success in this position calls for excellent communication skills in both English and Swedish, strong organisation, and exceptional attention to detail. A methodical approach is essential, along with the ability to adapt quickly to evolving requirements and client needs. We’re seeking someone who takes ownership, drives tasks to completion on time and on budget, and always maintains a commitment to delivering high‑quality results—even when deadlines are tight.
What you’ll be doing:
- Good understanding of new product/system development.
- Good understanding of product development and problem solving
- Good understanding of solid engineering principles and adherence to company standards and processes and compliance to internal and external standards & regulations.
- Assess technical queries and provide engineering design to new products and support existing product range.
- Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement, and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
- Sourcing suitable components and materials when required and creation of part numbers and bill of materials.
- Creation and checking of engineering documentation such as manufacturing drawings, design specifications, design proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports.
- Conduct and/or supervision of testing developed products.
- Ensuring delivery of quality engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget.
- Site visits to other JFD offices, client assets and suppliers as and when required.
- Be able to deliver well thought conceptual designs for future projects
What we’re looking for:
- Skilled in generating design calculations, main tools used are Ansys or Mathcad.
- Be able to work with DFA (Design for Assembly) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
- Manufacture of prototype components and take design from concept to validation.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
- Good knowledge of gas and fluid systems.
- Knowledge of design standards and industry guidelines relevant to the product.
- Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
- Product design experience would be advantageous.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
- Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
